  • Y/C capture possible with DeckLink SP?

It’s been a while since I’ve downloaded new drivers (just got done with a 2.5 year project), and I’m happy to see that composite capture is now possible using only one of the three component inputs. Unfortunately, I have a need for Y/C (“s-video”) capture — is that possible, by allowing luma on one cable and chroma on another?

If not, what is the best way to get Y/C sources into a Premiere Pro/DeckLink SP setup?

I’ve thought about this too and the only thing I can come up with is to bounce the s video to beta.

    Unfortunately, I don’t have a beta deck.

Any cheap way to convert Y/C to component?

What we have done is run the Y/C in/out of a S-VHS deck we are using into the Y/C connections on our PVW-2800 Beta SP deck. Our Beta deck is connected to the DeckLink card via component. When we need to capture from VHS, we simply switch the Beta deck input to s-video (a simple switch on the front of the deck) and go. All of the video in and out of the DeckLink card is handled through the Beta component connection. You do need to gen-lock the s-video source if you run it through the Beta deck, we use a TBC with Y/C connections for this.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t have an SP deck and can’t afford $3000 for one just to convert some Y/C into something that the DeckLink can capture.
