I have installed Xvid codecs on my machine
The problem I have is that Vegas 6 doesn’t see them so I can’t import to the time line any Xvid videos what do I need to do so vegas sees these codecs
The message I get along the bottom of the explorer window in vegas is video and the audio streams can not be determined

I had similar problems with variable bitrate divx files.
The solution was to split the video and audio to separate
files. I used virtualdub to do this.

To make sure I’m clear on this, donatello, are you saying that if I were to uninstall xvid I would be able to load Xvid video into Vegas utilizing Divx? Is there some way of suppressing Vegas’ awareness of the Xvid codec to accomplish the same thing?

Another program that’s useful for dealing with Xvid/VBR mp3 is Avidemux. With it you can choose to avoid reencoding video by selecting copy and just reencode the sound to a wav.
