    I am trying to edit together some clips that were compressed using the Xvid codec, but I can only occasionaly get audio and when I put the files in the timeline the video is black? is their something special I need to do to make this work?

    Me to… there is no way to edit with xvid (i didn’t find how to) an trick: install divx 5.2 ( the free version) and when you encode your in your setting of xvid insert “divx” FOURCC tag in the video (in advanced settings/debug section). Then when editing divx will decode your video…

    In after effect it is the same problem. Maybe xvid don’t have all necessary directshow routines to be decode by the adobe products…(or adobe products don’t recognize well xvid).
