  • Xserve for project rendering?

Posted by John Heagy on January 4, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Will an Xserve stuffed with a fiber interface and a Quadra 4000 work as a project renderer? We’d like for our colorists to be able to move on to the next job and not wait for renders. If the project were opened up on said Xserve via Remote Desktop would it render properly? Media paths would be the same as both machines would be Xsan clients.

    Thanks

Resolve uses GPU for image processing so the render machine needs to match the configuration of a normal Resolve. The idea is great, lots of facilities use a second machine for rendering so the suite can move on. I know of some facilities with 4 Resolve Lite systems in a rack doing dailies transcodes and ingest while full Resolve suites just do the client supervised grade.
