November 23, 2005 at 4:02 pmAwesome! Thanks Walter! I’ll pass that along to my boss, although I may take your advice and just wait for the Intel chip… Wonder if they’ll offer Quad Intel versions…

November 23, 2005 at 5:22 pmAlthough Apple is offering PCI-X machines at the store, I’ve just been told that is one were to really select this option all one gets is a regret letter. Since I’m not in an area that one can buy from the online store, I can’t check for sure.
Also of interest to PCI-X card owners is a device to convert PCI-E to PCI-X so one can effectively use a PCI-X card in a PCI-E slot.

November 28, 2005 at 8:03 pmWe just ordered the Quad here at work. We were working off 1.6 gig G5s and nobody wanted to wait for intel. We still have to wait 3-4 weeks to get it. We figured (and of course it’s a guess) but by the time the same processing power from intel chips actually hits the shelves, at least a year will have gone by. And if we’re spending 2500 bucks for a dual core just to keep us till intel, why not spend the 3500 and have it last probably a few years.
of course if it was my own money i’d wait 🙂
