  • Xpresso with Collision???

Posted by Kostaki on September 21, 2006 at 2:28 pm

HI i was wondering if by chance anyone new if it was possible to have an Spline or an OBJECT (the shape of a HALFMOON) with a Sphere that can move around Freely with in it, on it’s X and Y Axis, but assigned to not go with out the Perimeter of the HALFMOON Shape.

Can this be done using Ray coliision and Xpresso?

    thanks

You would have to use the standard collision node, not ray collision. I’m not sure why you would want togo thru such trouble, though. Your example sounds like it could be achieved just the same either by normal parenting techniques or with XPresso only doing radial/ angular evaluations and no collisions at all.

Actually, my goal was to have the Sphere object, not loose it’s animated characteristics…and that the Formulae stays constant in the Xpresso. For example, if i decided to tweak the shape of the HALFMOON into another shape, such as a traingle, that the Sphere would still not go out of the shapes perimeter…and roam freely inside.

Well, then it seems you need to cobble up an XPresso or look into physical simulation.

Is there by chance any tutorials on this cuz i typed in Physical simulation in the manual and didn’t get anyhting for a newbie for me…it’s kind of hard to figure what which node to use and i’m still learning the terms that people are using with Cinema 4d as for other 3D Lingo…

Would be a great help 🙂

Sorry, can’t help you much there, as I’m not yet that well versed in XPresso, either.
