I have a scene that works fine when alone but once it is embedded in another scene as an xref the xpresso no longer seems to notice that the “use deformed points” function was checked.

Here is what it looks like in the source scene:

here is what it looks like once that scene is an xref in another scene:

the basic project will be to make a slinky esq spring hop along. The spring has 2 end caps; one on each side. the end caps are attached to a spine using xpresso. The spine is attached to another spline using the spline wrap deformer. I then make the slinky jump by offsetting the spine wrap deformer.

it works great alone, but not when its in an xref

here is the source c4d files:

any help would be much appreciated. Right now my best guess is that maybe the “use deformed points” function just fails to work when in an xref.

I have been able to get other xrefs to work using xpresso. somehow it is the combo of an xpresso on a deformer that seems to not work

    thanks

a lot of the xpresso seems to be dealing with local coordinates (instead of world). Since it’s in xRef’s that might be responsible (but I didn’t have time to dissect it). It’s possible to get it to work with Align to Spline for the ends as long as the spline (jump spline) has it’s intermediate points set to Uniform. Here’s a quick test. The Helix needs to wrap to the jump spline using this method since (I think) the Align to Splines don’t do deformed coordinates.
