    Hi CC,

I am a registered Avid xpress 4.5 owner. I haven’t used the software for years on this machine (as it usually is used for FCP )and now it won’t work since i updated quicktime and osx to 10.4.9. Do I have to upgrade the version of Avid xpress?

I tried to upgrade on the avid site but despite registration it doesn’t let me download any upgrade. I am in the UK so there is no help phone.

    thanks

You will have to upgrade you XPress Pro software. Check here:

Here is the readme for Avid 5.7:

The upgrade is about 50.00 USD.

I was happily using Avid Xpress 4.6 for four years and last month decided to upgrade to 5.7. It was a complete and utter disaster.
There are so many errors in 5.7 it is unbelievable.
They have changed the field dominance to upper field first which makes it impossible to import any 32 bit animations/titles you may already have.
It is also impossible to import files of any resolution other than 720 x 576 thus rendering the widescreen useless.
Avid are completely aware of this problem and have been for some time but being Avid they ignore it.
For arrogance and ignorance they are matchless.
