  • Xpress Pro: Trouble Re-linking Offline Media; Timeline Won’t Play with Re-Importing

I’m returning to an old project and am having problems trying to re-link the media files to the project. No media or project files are missing.

At first, opening the project revealed all media to be offline. Avid Express Pro can’t find the media when I use the re-link command. The relevant media drive is mounted, and I tried different re-link settings. Deleting the database files (msmFMID.pmr and msmMMOB.mdb) haven’t helped.

So I duplicated the project (by renaming the project folder and project files) and re-imported all the relevant media (omf and aif files), opting to replace the exisiting files. Now the media is no longer offline (it displays the appropriate frame in the monitor window when I click in the timeline), but the timeline won’t play.

Playing and scrubbing causes the following error message: “An ACCESS_VIOLATION exception occured. For more information, see the error log: …” I also get this message a few times in succession when I start Xpress Pro.

When I try to export a sequence containing the problem footage, I get the error message: “Exception: Parameter Error! This export format may require audio or video tracks.” I’ve tired different export settngs, including DV Stream and QT movie. When I try to export an AVI, I get the error: “GetFinishedFrame out of memory OUT OF MEMEORY SEE CONSOLE”

To sum up: I can’t get relink to work, and I get error messages if I re-import the omf files. Re-batch captuing isn’t any help, since the source footage has no time code. I’m using Xpress Pro 4.6. Any ideas? Thanks!

Does the reimported media play in the source window?

when relinking within your newly created project, have you deselected ..relink only media from current project

have you reimported some file based footage at an incorrect res?

you may have a bad file somewhere

dupe the sequence then chop into two parts, if one half plays then chop the other half in two and continue to find which clip is creating the error…
