Hi. I just upgraded to Xpress Pro Mac, 4.8.2, for OSX Tiger, and have no problem launching the Avid . . . unless I have a deck connected (firewire). It doesn’t matter if I change decks or cables, or bypass drives to go straight to the computer firewire port: Avid shuts down the moment this peripheral is connected. I tossed Site Settings, started with new deck preferences — no convincing this Avid to start up. Unhook the deck and the Avid is happy.

    Any suggestions?

PROBLEM SOLVED! A friend who had the same problem said that I had to reinstall Quicktime 7 (I happen to have PRO, but I don’t know if that matters.) He said that the AVID update actually installs something that Quicktime needs to overwrite. So I downloaded Quicktime from scratch. Now I can capture firewire footage again! Hope this post helps someone else.

    Thanks Valerie.
