    Hi there,

Using Xpress Pro HD 5.2 on a PC, capturing off a J30 using firewire. I find during batch capture the deck rapidly flickers between rewind and FF [you can see the << >> lights], sometimes for many seconds before actually moving the tape. Also, when it asks for the next tape, before I have a chance to change the tape it somehow assumes I’ve clicked that the tape’s in and starts trying to find shots on the tape already in there.

All very odd. Has anybody experienced this?

    Cheers..

    Toby

No. This sounds very much like a cable or firewire port problem.

J30’s have caused us the odd problem and that turned out to be that switching off on the front panel doesn’t power done the firewire interface. Each time we’ve had problems the only way around was to remove the power lead briefly.

In your case though it sounds more like an intermittent cable.
