  XP service pack 3 and Premiere Pro 2.0

  I have an old PC that runs Premiere Pro 2.0. The PC is P4 3GHz hyperthreading with 1GB of RAM. I am being asked (by the auto update feature of Windows XP) to download and install service pack 3. Should I do that? Will that improve performance or slow down my already slow PC?
