I’ve never tried running Avid on XP Home, but I’ve heard about some people trying it and it worked OK.
So I think it will work as long as you’re not using it with a network and don’t get problems that can only be solved by the greater access given by XP Pro.

It’s not about networking – XP Home will not give you the permissions you need to run Avid. Yes, there are people who insist they can (and do) run XP Home, but upon closer inspection they are the ‘under the OS-hood’ kind of people. Unless you want to get extremely intimate with your OS, stick with Pro.

    Lisafer,
I’ll tell you right now that Jon Z. knows a lot more than I do about all things Avid/tech, he is also very wise, observant and funny and gives grrrreeeaaaattt! advice, but I’m gonna throw in against him on this one. I run my Xpress Pro on XP Home and I am as far away as you can get to an “under the OS-hood” person as you can get. I repeat,
I HAVE NEVER HAD INTIMATE RELATIONS WITH THAT COMPUTER!

That being said, XP Pro is the preferrable way to go, so Jon’s advice is still good.
