April 10, 2008 at 3:17 amI don’t utilize the xmp file. I work at a TV station and I have to encode dozens of mpeg2’s a day. It just gets annoying having to waste time deleting the xmps when I have no use for them.

May 21, 2012 at 2:02 pmI’m in the same boat. I spend unnecessary time deleting these. Premiere and Media Encoder both create them.
Anyone know how to turn off this function?

In File>Export>Media select METADATA at the bottom of the screen
Under Export Options, select NONE.
Done.
Also, you’ll want to go to Edit>Preferences>Media and UNCHECK Write XMP ID to Files on Import & UNCHECK Enable Clip and XMP Metadata Linking.
This worked for us at WYFF.
