Attempting to rescue a FCPX project. The original project was done in 10.2.1, is a 3 camera concert shoot, and the library was corrupted along the way. The whole cut of the concert was done and the uh oh moment came at the end when the project couldn’t be shared . I tried every trick, and sharing was no-go.

I started from scratch in 10.3.4 on another system and re created the library- so far so good. Now here is where the XML question comes into play. Since there was a finished cut in the first corrupted library, could I select a range of the time line and export an XML of that range, the main body of the concert, and then bring that XML into the new reconstructed library and use that to reconstruct the original cut?

The new library has all the same media as the corrupted version…

    What steps would be involved?

Any tips appreciated even if they are “you are barking up the wrong tree”

The point Is moot at the moment . I managed to cut and paste som sompund clips to save a little time and recut the rest . I’d still like to learn something more about XML , as I don’t really use it much but this situation might have been a good opportunity . Advice taken happily .

    Just export the whole timeline.

Select the Project, and choose File > Export XML …

Then in the new library choose File > Import > XML …

Once the Project opens, copy what you need out of it, and paste in to the new Project.

I will try the xml export from flawed library – import into reconstructed library when I am
Back at my desk in a week. Trying to rescue the corrupted library was a big lift that failed. We managed to complete the edit with a reconstructed library built from almost scratch . Muticam in fcpx was pretty amazing syncing up a patchwork of camera files . The rebuilt project was cut in 10.3.4 which didn’t blink once, didn’t pinwheel once during the edit

Since I posed the question , I’ll make an xml experiment when I get back to the office and report back with my answer. I was concerned about doing that the heat of the moment – worried about corrupting another library , but now that the project has delivered I can muck it all up without worries.

Back in the office and took one shot at exporting an XML from the project I had in the corrupted library , and then importing the XML into a second reconstructed library.
Suprisingly and somewhat superficially the cut, graphics all of that seemed to a transfer over to a project in the new library just fine. THe audio was a problem with the imported XML and I think that was the case because the imported XML might have connected to the wrong verson of the main angle in the the original mulicam clip. I can’t sya for sure at this point and. I also don’t know if I can put the audio right in the imported XML , though it sure would be tempting to try, just as an experiment.
I was leery of trying this gambit while trying to get the project out the door, but now it seems that it might have worked, perhaps not perfectly, but close enough that if the audio could be resolved it would have saved hours of time.
