  • XML import issue: unsupported audio filter?

I had an outside editor help me with a recent project. He’s working in FCP 7, I’m still on the older FCP 6.

He exported his FCP 7 project as an XML 4 (he also gave me other XML versions, but my understanding is that to go from 7 to 6, you need an XML4).

Every time I try to open the XML 4, FCP 6 hangs at about 78%. The project contains green screen video that was keyed using Conduit, with several effects, so I need to be able to check the “Include Audio/Video Effects” option in the Import XML window.

When I import the XML 4 into FCP6, with all options unchecked (no reconnecting to media, no markers, and no audio/video effects), the project opens, but all the timelines are screwed up (no keys, text in wrong places, etc…), and it gives me the “Non-critical Errors” dialogue box. When I select “Yes” to see the list of errors, it’s the same error, over and over again:

    : Unsupported at scope.( line 22620 )

…with only the last number (in the above example, 22620) being different on every line.

I’m assuming that this error is what’s causing the import hang when I import with Audio/Video Effects.

I’ve tried trashing preferences, I’ve tried deleting (or moving) the Plugins folder, all to no avail.

    Look familiar to anyone?
