  • XML conform shifted by a few frames on SOME shots, but not all

Posted by Charles Haine on March 13, 2015 at 3:25 pm

Ingested 4 timelines from a multi-episode project edited in FCP 7, exported XMLs, brought into Resolve, and the reference movie matches about 40% of the time. 60% of the shots are offset by a few frames.

No slo-mo (so the slo-mo version doesn’t matter), shot on the RED MX, re-attaching to the .r3d files.

Running 11.2.1, which appears to be the newest version, and tried both “source timecode” and “source framecount” in the conform options, same issue either way.

Any ideas on what might be going on?

Funny, i just had the same issue with XDCAM source files and blamed the long GOP structure.
    But R3D ?? Strange..

Had this problem with mixed Alexa/Canon 5D timeline, some shots were couple of frames off (both Alexa and Canon). In my case the cause of the problem was J and L cuts. Try to remove audio from FCP timeline and re-export XML, maybe it’ll help. Although i’ve removed audio, it fixes most of the shifts, but i still had to fix some shots manually.
