Xmas request ???? FCP7 to X
Posted by Mark Slocombe on December 22, 2019 at 3:49 pmDoes anyone have a working system with Fcp 7, who would be willing to export my fcp7 project to xml and ideally into Send to X please?
I have the project, the media, fcp7 and old MacBooks but cannot get them to play nicely together or separately.
TIA and happy Xmas!

December 22, 2019 at 11:46 pmHi Warren – many thanks for the offer… the file upload here seems off, so here are links to the fcp project file (and the one prior to it, in case it works better) :

December 23, 2019 at 5:08 pmI tried both versions with a fresh install on a system dedicated to Final Cut Pro Studio 3 (FCP 7.0.3).
I get a message (paraphrased) “the project was created with an older version of FCP would you like to update the project.”
I try to update and I get a message “The version you are updating is newer than the version of FCP.”
So no go here so far.

December 23, 2019 at 5:24 pmHi Warren, thank you so much for taking the time and effort!
It doesn’t sound as if FCP is going to play ball, does it? If you have any other suggestions, please say, otherwise don’t spend more time on this – again many thanks.

December 23, 2019 at 5:52 pmI always kept FCP up to date – so it would be whatever was the current version on the date of the file save… November 5 2007. I got this info on Wikipedia: On April 15, 2007, Apple revealed Final Cut Pro 6.0, as the cornerstone of the Final Cut Studio 2 bundle.
I have 18 others saved but I guess they’ll all behave the same. I’ve shared their Dropbox folder : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/z7rb3dzzadfrnng/AADuUgCldRoRA0Y1Nk3spPmEa?dl=0

December 24, 2019 at 2:04 pmI have a fresh in stall of OS and FCP Studio 3 which puts me at FCP 7.0.3 with all the updates.
I get the same message with all the files. It wants to update to a newer version but when I hit OK, I get an error message that the version of the file is newer than I’m trying to update to, which is not possible as I have updated FCP 6 files to FCP 7 in the past.
Perhaps the files are corrupt? Maybe zipping them? If anyone has any suggestions, this should be straight forward.
