Anyone out there finding issues in your NLE system while batch capturing from tape (s) using the free run time code on your XL2? I use FCP 5 and am capturing from a multi-cam shoot where two cameras were on free run time code ( set properly before the start of shooting ) and I am noticing some slight out of sync in the time codes between tapes. Also batch capturing seems to drive my NLE nuts when it spots a time code break, sometimes it will not capture the batch at all or just a few clips giving me a “time code error” message

Don’t use Free Run unless you will not be pausing during recording – and that is very rare.

If you need to identify time of day, then set time of day with the User Bits on the XL2.

By using Rec Run, you will reduce the incidence of time code breaks – or changes in timcode if you pause a lot during recording.
