Just wanted to know (before buying one) if the XL2 sufferes from focus-drift, I’ve read this a lot during my research. Even when auto-focus is switched off, apparently the focus can (and often does) drift out?

Taken from the XL2 owners’ manual:

“If you focus manually then leave the camcorder with the power turned on, you may lose focus on your subject. This possible slight shift in focus is due to a rise in temperature in the camcorder interior and lens. Check the focus before resuming shooting.”

My XL1S used to be very ‘autofocus sensitive’. I sold it and bought an XL2 which is much better in that regard i.e. it doesn’t lose autofocus for me at all unless you’re shooting in very low light, then most other camcorders will do the same thing.
