    Hi All,

I am a newbie to the XL2. I’ve shot with the Panasonic DVX100.

24p Question: Is there a setting on the XL2, similar to the 24p advanced setting on the DVX100? Any reason not to use this?

Tape stock Question (I’m sure this is basic!): Any preferred brand of tape stock to use? Is there a reason why Panasonic brands would not work well with this camera? Or would a simple head cleaning tape do the trick if we were shooting with a cheap Sony mini-DV tape?

Thanks for your input. I’m excited to shoot canon.

    Best,

    Kevin

Yes, the XL2 has a 24pA mode. Use it exactly the same way you would use it on the DVX100.

I use the Panasonic Master series MiniDV tapes with great results. Apparently the Sony Master series are equally as good.

I refer you to a recent dicussion from the Event DV forum:
