Hope I’m not the first one to be stumped by this but I couldn’t find the answer in the archives.
If the firewire plug is connected to the dv in/out on the XL1s, the analog jacks behind the battery seem to be disabled. Is there a way to input an analog a/v signal from a vhs vcr and at the same time capture that to my nle without first recording to the mini dv tape in the xl1s and then playing that back?
In other words, can I use the camera as an analog to digital converter without first making a dv tape? Thanks.

I don’t think the XL1S has an A to D pass-through converter in it. The GL2 has one but not the XL1S. I think you’re stuck recording to tape first.

Thanks Don. I have about 50 hours of vhs material and was just hoping I wouldn’t have to make 50 hours of dv tape.
