    Hi, I am seeing black corners on the video I shot with an XL1.
    It looks like a big circle instead of square frame. It doesn’t show up within the TV safe area but I know it shouldn’t be there.

    Without seeing exactly what you see, I suspect the most probable cause is the sunshade. If you open the lens wide, you may get dark corners because the very edge of the sunshade is in your frame. This is why Canon supplies a special sunshade with the wide angle lens for the XL1.

    Jim, I tried that. I’m seeing the black on tight shots. Its fine on wide shots. I need to post a screen capture for all to see.
