Just trying to determine what the practical differences are between these two cameras. We will be using them in a live event production with three cameras. The facility will be wired with SDI cabling, so the HD-SDi output is the crux of our decision making. Can someone help me with the formula to determine the difference in focal length in terms of distance the camera should optimally be in order to achieve a well-framed close up?

The XL H1 specs show the lens at : 5.4-108mm, (38.9-778 mm in 35mm photography)
    The XL G1 specs show the lens at: 4.5mm – 90mm (32.5mm – 650mm; 35mm photo equivalent)
