Bit of a long shot, but here goes.

I have a Canon XHA1 which I bought about 9 years ago or so. Three years ago it went wrong and an official repair shop replaced the CCD and recalibrated it. And now it looks like exactly the same problem (the HDV light blinks and nothing more).

It’s not worth repairing and I see others have had this problem, so I’m wondering:

    a) if I can do anything myself to repair it

    b) and if not, if it’s worth trying to flog (with 2 batteries)

It just seems a shame to chuck it, especially after some very nice stuff was filmed on that!

Hey what did you do? I have the same camera and I too am wondering how worth it it is to spend money repairing a 9 Yr old camera. Probably better to just invest in a new 4K camera… but not cheap either.

My specs: FCP 6.0.6, El Capitan, rMBP 15″ i7 2.6 GHz, 16 GB RAM

The first time it broke I spent about 500 EUR to get it fixed. But that lasted just over a year so I don’t think it’s worth doing it again, especially as the camera itself is still tape. I like the cam but I’m going to get rid of it somehow and get another. It’s just not worth repairing IMHO and I’m not convinced it was worth doing in the first place.
