Have a prospective client who wants clips for the Web but insists footage has to be 720p. Am i just screwed since XHA1 doesn’t shoot progressive? Or is 1080i as useful in shooting the deinterlacing for the Web (knowing Web video is progressive).

[Mark Wieser] “Am i just screwed since XHA1 doesn’t shoot progressive?”

Huh? It does. Some people will contend that Canon’s video is “fake” progressive and not “real” progressive… but it looks, behaves, and edits exactly like any other progressive footage. Just shoot in the 24f or 30f mode (the “f” designation being Canon’s flavor of progressive video)… then downconvert it in post from 1080p to 720p… and voilà, you’re there.
