    Hello,

I need to capture footage shot in HDV 24F with the XH-G1, using Canon’s HV10 camcorder as a deck, via firewire to the most recent version of FCP 5. Can I use the same setup in FCP as mentioned for the Canon XL-H1 in an earlier post (i.e. HDV 1080p24 and firewire basic)? Also, since I plan on editing in native HDV, is it necessary to purchase a Kona or BlackMagic card for input, or is this something I can hold off until I’m ready to conform the final sequence to 10-bit HD?

    Thanks,

    Cathy

You should be able to use the HV10 as you described. You don’t nee the Kona or Black Magic card for digitizing but might want it for monitoring. HTH
