I posted this before but it kind of got buried, I am looking to buy an xdcamex and I was planning on using a g4 laptop ( 1.67 ghz processor ) to download the files to on the field – to then be edited on a quad g5. Can xdcamex files be transferred to a g4 laptop ?

The system can handle it, the only problem is you need a card reader since the two use different card types. If for some reason time is not a factor, you could also use the USB cable.

    Ryan,

I know this thread is dormant, but I recently used this workflow in the field and wanted to add that the EX1’s software is compatible with the intel based macs. You can certainly download and store the files on the powerbook g4, but in order for me to view my video in the field, I downloaded the VLC Media Player (free). Far from perfect, but I could check the video and the client could spot check.

    The card reader works great.
