XDcamEX 2 iMovie 2 FCS
I’ll be working with someone soon who will have XdcamEX footage. He’ll want to do a rough cut and then pass it over to me for finishing.
I know he uses iMovie routinely but has no experience with XDcam. Will he be able to do this just with iMovieHD and freebies downloaded from the Sony site?
Any advice on a suitable workflow would be very gratefully received?

iMovie won’t work with XDCAM footage… however you could transcode it to DV maybe and work that way. BUT… I’m unclear about opening an iMovie project file in FCP down the line (don’t think you can, but I could be wrong)… better to have him work in FCP of course. You certainly could do a conform shot by shot in FCP of his offline (yucky)…
