XDCAM Transfer Software Logging thoughts…
When we log our clips in the Transfer Software, we prefix all of the clips with a sequential number. The sequence carries from disc 1 to the last disc from the shoot. This help to find a clip when you have 5 shoots in a project, about 15 tapes in each shoot, and about 1000 clips per shoot.
Before we could write back to the disc with the U1 we used to just import the clip though the Transfer software, then automate prefixing all of the clips with a better finder renamer app. But now that we can save all of the logging back to the disc we would like to apply the file names of the clips to the disc.
We would love to automate the prefixing in the transfer software some how. So all we have to do is just go and ad more logging info to the clips before transfer.
Does anyone know of an alternative app or have any ideas how we might be able to do this?

I’m not exactly sure what you are trying to do. Do you want to change the filenames on the disc? If so, then can’t you point your Finder renaming tool at the Clip folder of the disc?
Otherwise, the answer to your question may be that the latest versions of Sony’s XDCAM Transfer tool have an Applescript interface which I have found very useful for automation. Among other things, it allows you to set any of the logging fields, which may offer you a solution.
