  Xdcam to SD

  I’m editing a 30 minute magazine program for broadcast. The host segments were shot in XDcam, the graphic elements/open are SD 16×9 (864×486) and all the segments were shot (by mistake) in SD 4×3 (720×480)!

  We had a combination of freelancers forgetting to shoot 16×9 and finally starting down the road to HD. This program will be the only one with all these mixed formats, although, I’m not sure how long it will take the graphical packages to be updated.

  So far, I’ve exported the XDcam host segments to 16×9 quicktimes and re-imported them into the project. It will work, but it’s a little “soft”.

  Is there a better workflow? Is there a better way to convert? Should we look into a hardware solution?
