  • XDCAM sequence to flv – deinterlace?

Posted by Lucy Moon on February 26, 2009 at 5:09 pm

Hello. I don’t usually make FLVs but I need to export an XDCAM 1080i50 sequence for processing with adobe media encoder.

Where and with what should I use to remove the interlacing?

Media Encoder doesn’t seem to have a deinterlace filter, and I never normally use FCP for exporting anything other than plain self-contained QT using sequence settings.

    Thanks

[Astrid Karlsson] “Media Encoder doesn’t seem to have a deinterlace filter”

Are you quite sure about that? I’m pretty sure it does…

Hmmm, according to the manual CS4 automatically detects and deinterlaces interlaced material. Make of that what you will…

    Thanks Stuart.

Results weren’t great with Adobe Media encoder alone, so I created a compressor setting – same XDCAM compression/size etc of my sequence, but with the following settings. Took some testing but this works for me, fairly quickly, before I take the files to adobe media encoder:

    Video
    – Compression XDCAM EX 1080i50 @35Mb
    – Key frames – auto
    – No frame reordering
    – Auto data rate

    Frame Controls on
    – Output fields Progressive
    – Deinterlace – Better (motion adaptive)

    Cheers!
