    Hello,

My name is Thijn, I am a ENG cameraman from The Netherlands.

In FCP I cannot edit with the XDcam proxy files. With Avid I can. But I’m not an Avid kind of guy..
FCP can import the proxy video but not the audio…! Does anybody know if this problem allready been solved?

    regards,
    Thijn

Are you using Sony’s XDCAM Transfer Software?

FCP does not use the mp4 proxies. It uses the real mpeg2 files, instead. When you import the XDCam into FCP, these files get re-wrapped from MXF to Quicktime.

well, if you must work with FCP and the proxies, AND want HQ audio, this might help:

I’m also working on something to make the entire XDcam workflow file based. I’ve got that working now in the lab, but still have some problems with HD.
For SD, it should be done.
(think, ingest proxies with HQ audio 8 times faster than RT, do a conform from the original disks faster than the finished show runs…
I could make the proxy import for FCP way faster, but then i have to use the 8Khz sound, and i’ve yet to see someone who can edit with that.)

    @ Thijn,
Kun je contact met me opnemen voor wat testjes?
