    Please help!

We are working in Avid Media Composer 4, and need to convert the “final” Avid project (and all its media/graphics) to a PAL frame rate (but still in HD). We ultimately need to have two working projects and be able to lay off Masters to XDCAM optical discs for Broadcast in both the US and Europe. There may be changes to the projects either in the US or Europe, and that’s why we need both. Or do we?

When I open a bin (from the 29.97 frame rate project) in a project with a 25 frame rate and try to open the 29.97 sequence in the 25 sequence I receive an error because of matte keys and graphics. When I move the raw media over , it just converts the sequence to 25fps. Do I have to reimport all the graphics into the PAL project and reassemble them? Or should we just go to Europe with the 29.97 frame rate project and create video mixdowns of the Masters, open them in a PAL project and then output to the optical disk?

Let me know if this makes sense, and PLEASE advise!

    Thanks,

    Jeff

I wouldn’t go to all that trouble.

Stick with one project, the native format that your footage was shot on,make your 60i master and then get it converted to 50i at a dubbing house. You’re going to feel a world of pain if you try and do it inside MC.

I’d be surprised if a broadcaster accepted an XDCam master. Most I deal with insist on HDCam SR for HD material.
