    Wayne and Andy
I’ll pass this along to some Sony XD Techs in New Jersey. And yes, I guess I’ll pull out my Canopus and monitor till a new display is acquired.
    Thanks

[Wayne Carey] “he problem there is that you need a capture card for the Mac Book Pro. Which at this time, there are none existing.”

The AJA io is great for Apple laptops and has been since the days of the titanuim.

Exactly, Jeremy. I didn’t forget the AJA IO but I was trying to find Dennis a low cost option for monitoring. The IO is the perfect solution to his problem but they are still about $1500 for the box in a market that is going HD, so its silly to spend that much on something that is being phased out. Now, Ebay may have cheaper prices, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be much cheaper.

The FireWire Access Mode (FAM) for Sony XDCAM is just for accessing
the files. It’s not a video connection. You have to buy a video output
device from AJA or BMD for monitoring …

Hey Wayne, I hear you, but he’s shooting XD CAM (SD) and working on a laptop. You need to buy the gear that works for your particular machine. You wouldn’t buy an HDCAM if you were shooting Digibeta, would you?

EVen though we’ve moved to HD (not exclusively but more and more) our io is still a backbone in the suite. Dennis, you can save some money by getting the io LD (which has analog outs by the way) if you don’t need any analog capturing functionality.

Thanks for the info. Here are the i.Link configs from the PDW-1500 manual

    From PDW-1500 Manual pp.17

    Equipped with i.Link connector
The i.Link connector of this unit supports the following two functions

1.Input and output of DV streams(AV/C mode)
. Dv Streams can be output from this unit and recorded on standard DV equipment.
. During MPEG IMX playback, the playback signals can be converted and output as
DV streams, allowing you to connect DV-compatible nonlinear editors.
.The output from external DV devices (VTRs, nonlinear editors, ect. ) can be input to this unit and recorded on Professional Disks.

    2. FAM mode

    Mactrix, Wayne, Andy, and JeremyG
After reviewing this and falling upon Menu Item 31. Input mode. The deck needs to be set for two things. 1. Input video select, set to i.Link(external front panel) thanks Wayne. And 2, Menu item 31 set to DV input. Sorry for not looking further and wasting all of your time.

If it wasn’t for the COW I would have been sent to the slaughter house a long time ago. Since the 1.25 days.
    Thanks to everyone.
