Since I find that dropping XDCAM EX files (1080 30p) directly onto a Pro Res 422 sequence equals the “green line”, can anyone suggest a workflow for using this Sony codec in a ProRes sequence? Switching to the XDCAM EX sequence setting yields unsatisfactory results for graphic elements – so I feel the need to stay with ProRes. Unfortunately a Log and Transfer conversion to ProRes is not available – without going thru Compressor?

XDCAM in a ProRes timeline will get you the green render bar. NO avoiding that…since you don’t want to work native, because of the graphics (very understandable). If you don’t want the green render bar, you need to convert all of the XDCAM to ProRes. Compressor, MPEG STREAMCLIP are your options. DO it overnight so that you don’t have to wait for it.

Log and transfer only brings that in native.

No while you have 8b rendering.
    For preview/pre-rendering is works.
Change to “High precision” to export your master.

Sorry, but the graphics created on the 8 bit timeline are still 8 bit quality even when rendered in a 10 bit output.
