    Hi

I have a project shot with an EX1 in 1080i50.

The final output will be both web H.264 (MPEG 4) as well as Blu-ray and Standard def DVD (MPEG 2).

I’m wondering what the best sequence settings should be?

Should i use the Easy Setup XDCAM EX settings with Sequence Settings set to:

    Frame Size – Aspect Ratio – HDTV 1080i (16:9)

    Pixel Aspect Ration – Square

    Field Dominance – None

But what QuickTime Compression Settings should I use? XDCAM EX or ProRes…?

And under Render Control should i select Codec – Same as Sequence Codec or use the ProRes422? I’m using a Macbook Pro with 2.6Ghz and 4gig Ram so would the ProRes codec be less strenuous on the system?

Any help, would be much appreciated.

[Fabio Basone] “Frame Size – Aspect Ratio – HDTV 1080i (16:9)

    Pixel Aspect Ration – Square

    Field Dominance – None”

Correct except that field dominance should be ‘Upper’ as this is interlaced material.

[Fabio Basone] “But what QuickTime Compression Settings should I use? XDCAM EX or ProRes…?”

I tend to use ProRes but that’s because most of the material doesn’t consist of entirely XDCAM video. If you’re whole project is XDCAM then I’d probably stick to editing in that codec until you do your final render to ProRes. Lay off the effects and speed changes though as the rendering for preview will take a while. Another reason I use ProRes.

    All the best,
