  XDCAM – DV Effects Disabled

  Heres my workflow:
  -shoot greenscreen on XDCam HD
  -ingest via XD Transfer plugin for FCP
  -import clips into AE
  -drop XDCam footage onto DV comp
  -apply keylight filter and colour correction (levels/hue&sat/etc)
  -render out to DV NTSC

  The problem:
  -the first 1-3 seconds of each rendered clip has no colour correction filters applied to it, then suddenly these effects abruptly kick in
  -in other instances, the colour correction filters will render fine then kick out about 30secs into the rendered clip

  My solution:
  -shoot and ingest and render with 5-10sec handles to allow filters to kick, then cut the handles out when posting in FCP
  or
  -render comps using a codec other than DV

  So as you can see, there is a working solution that doesn’t effect the workflow too badly, this is just something that I haven’t seen documented anywhere and thought it may be worth mentioning incase anyone else has experienced this.

  Apple G5 Dual Xeon 2.66GHz 4GB ram
  Mac OS 10.4.11
  FCP 6.0.2
  AE CS3 8.0.2.27
  XDCAM Transfer 2.1.0
  Ingesting XDCAM HD 1080p30 35MB VBR
  Compositing with Keylight 1.2
  Colour correcting with AE standard Levels & Hue/Sat
