    Hi,

I was trying to do an edit-to-tape a 1 min XDCAM HD 1080 50i sequence via a Decklink card (downconverted to SD) to DigiBeta and it started doing a Conforming MPEG-2 Video process and it took quite long to do that.

Just wanna know if this is something that it has to do before it can lay off to tape.

    Thanks,

    -chrispy

Yes it is. If the native format ot the timeline is XDCAM HD then it is using an MPEG codec which uses a GOP structure, not I-frame. That means FCP needs to conform the edit according to the GOP structure as a single MPEG clip for full quality edit to tape palyback.
