We’re just about to take delivery of our F55 and were hoping there would be a new release of FCPX with support for the XAVC codec, I was wondering If there’s a timeframe for adding 4K XAVC support to PPRo, as I understand it there is a plug in for the PC version but it isn’t available on Macs. I asked on the PPRo forum with no response and at BVE today but still no clues!

I thought I’d try again on this forum as the Adobe folks seem very chatty here!

We got our F55 the other day. Did some test shooting today with XAVC Intra Class 100, 1920×1080, 29.97 and 59.97. Crashes premiere every time. 4K is overkill for my commercial production, but I will try it next.
At least there is a preset in premiere for the 4k. After that, I’ll try the bottom of the barrel XDCAM HD format because I know my machine can handle that. I’ve had Adobe in my machine now for 2 hours trying to figure out why it doesnt work. They are uploading the mxf files to their ftp for analysis.
It’s really great being on the bleeding edge……

You’ll need the TotalCode Plug-in 6.0.3 from Rovi/MainConcept and then should work. Here’s a link to it

    David,

That TotalCode plugin is Windows only.

Not remotely helpful for those of us on a Mac.

Anyone with knowledge of how to successfully ingest or transcode footage from Sony F55 please post here.

We’re using Resolve to transcode at the moment.
