x264 Encoder GUI
I’m looking for a GUI for the x264 encoder. I’ve been reading up on the basic principles (I-, P- and B-frames, CABAC versus CAVLC, etc.) but I’m not looking to become a master compressionist. So I’m looking for something with basic manual control but also good defaults/automation to kick in for the stuff I’m not clued up on.
On my travels I’ve come across x264QTCodec and x264 Encoder. Any preferences, and any others I should be aware of?
And while we’re at it, are there any resources you could point me to that could bring me up to speed and keep me up to date on what profiles and parameters the main playback software and devices can handle?
