x264 encoded files and DVD Architect
I know this is not called DVD Architect forum, but C. Cow doesn’t have a forum for it, so this is the closest thing.
I encode almost everything to h.264 with x264, using MeGUI as the interface. x264 was made Blu-Ray compatible earlier this year, as long as you use parameters within the blu-ray specs of course. However, nothing seems to work in DVD Architect 5.0b, trying to build a BD25. I’ve been doing lots of test encoding a one minute file, starting with the blu-ray specs and modifying things here and there, but no matter what I do I keep getting one of two error messages at the building step, which doesn’t allow the project to even burn or finish building the image.
One is:

Status: TSWrapper.dll::CTSWrapper::ProcThreadMain::This program has a bug. – m_ptsOfNextGOP is empty.The file name can vary, this is because I’m just doing a one minute test with no menus. If I had a menu, it would be 00001.m2ts instead.
These files are encoded using the latest build of x264 and MeGUI, although I also tried encoding from the command line interface but the result is the same. These are the parameters I’m using:
–level 4.1 –pass 2 –bitrate 30000 –stats “.stats” –slow-firstpass –deblock -1:-1 –keyint 18 –min-keyint 2 –b-pyramid strict –weightp 0 –slices 4 –vbv-bufsize 30000 –vbv-maxrate 30000 –aud –nal-hrd vbr –tff
This is for 29.97 1080i video. Unless I move too far from these parameters, the test files work perfect in Encore CS4, in it the project finishes building with no errors. So these files are compliant with the BD specs, and they even show a green mark in the DVD Architect Optimize Disc module. But they always fail when it starts building the project.
Now, when it comes to 23.98 fps video, DVD was giving me the buffer underflows error, and in trying different things, I lowered the GOP size from 24 to 16 and it finished the building process. So I figured that was the problem, but when I tried the same parameters for the 1080i footage, only adding –tff to encode interlaced top field, it gave me the m_ptsOfNextGOP is empty error. I changed the GOP sizes to different values, such as 18-3, 15-3, 15-2, 15-1, but nothing seems to work. It still gives me the “m_ptsOfNextGOP is empty” error. I also tried changing the –vbv-bufsize and –vbv-maxrate parameters to higher and lower values, and with some values it gives me the buffer underflow error, and with lower values it gives me the other error.
Now, I would use Encore (even though I prefer DVDA) but Encore (CS4 at least) sucks at respecting the loop point. I did the motion in Vegas and exported it as an uncompressed RGB because I know whatever program I use to author it will re-encode the menu. When I play the BD-RE that I authored in DVDA, it plays perfect, when it comes to the loop point it doesn’t skip a frame and when it comes to the end it goes back quickly to the loop point, exactly where I set it to. In the same disc authored with Encore CS4, when it reaches the loop point it freezes for two seconds and then continues a few frames later, past the loop point. When it reaches the end, it goes back to the loop but starts a few frames after what I set it to. I don’t know why Encore does this and DVDA doesn’t, but I need it to be smooth, so I need to use DVDA and I already ran dozens of tests and nothing works. Can anybody help?

I had this error:
