    Hi all.

We are trying to upgrade our SAN system, right now we have an 7Tb Xraid (3.5 Raid 5) each side, with fibre hooked to 3 systems via Sanbox 5200, and works fine for SD. I hear that Xraid is slow for HD, (slow beast they said) but not sure.

Also I heard about G-speed Xl, and another systems, out there, is there worthed to uograde, are they really faster.

We are planning to work with DVCproHD, and some times uncompress HD.

    Any clues ?

    Thanks

Quite frankly, if you are working in mostly DVCProHD, then you really don’t need a faster RAID. The data rate per stream needed maxes out at around 14MB/second, worst case scenario, depending on resolution and frame rate.

In general, the G-Speed XL is faster, not only in its throughput, but also in its ability to format/rebuild, and its ability to maintain a higher data rate while in a deprecated state.
