    Hi all,

I’ve been using AE for years I feel like I’m going crazy. As of cc2019 when I’m rotating layers in 3d space using the rotations in the layer panel, y and z rotations seem to do it along the local rotation widgets axes (blue and green). However once i’ve done a transformation in, say, the z-axis, the x-rotation seems to rotate around a global horizontal axis, not the local red x-axis they way I’d expect.

I want x rotations to behave like the other axes, and i feel like that’s how it used to work for me for the past decade, and i’m really second-guessing myself. Is there some sort of preference I’ve somehow activated?

I just want the x-rotation to rotate along the objects x-axis, not the global x-axis!

Any advice would be appreciated, even if it’s telling me I’m crazy.

That seems to be the normal behavior. I’d suggest you parent it to nulls. Use one for each axis, and rotate just that axis in each null.

Hi. Have you accidentally changed the Local/World Axis buttons at the top of your screen?

I’m having the same issue and it’s driving me nuts! And I don’t want to clutter my scene with rotation nulls for every 3D object.

There’s three tiny icons in the toolbar to select the Axis Mode: Local Axis, World Axis or View Axis.
