I have looked on the web for some skeletal images that i can re color, animate etc. Anyone have any idea’s on how to get the look?

Making a skeleton walk in AE is an exercise in insanity, a sure path to madness.
    Hire a 3d artist.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Once you have donwloaded a free skeleton model that looks like this: https://www.3-d-models.com/3d-model_files/380m819.htm

follow the methodolgy in this tutorial for creating an X-ray type shader. It will work in Max mental ray as well as Maya mental ray.

Like bogiesan said – reserve a place at the asylum, if you want to do it in AE. It’s going to drive you nuts. Even the simplest, most unsophisticated 3D animation using incidence shaders is going to look a 100 times better. Find a 3d artist, you are sure to find one. As a instant solution consider the skeleton in Poser combined with the walkcycle generator.

Doesn’t anyone else find it ironic that Dave couldn’t remember the name “Total Recall?”

I agree with Mylennium. You could probably learn maya or Cinema 4D in the space of time it would take you to animate it well in AE.

Wow, all the BIG guns waying in. Thanks for the info guys. I have seen the walk cycle in poser and that is probably the way I will try it.
The Total Recall MRI scene did come to mind, great film.

If you have access, I think that’s a GREAT choice – I’ve seen some great stuff with poser. You can just match the actor with the skeleton, or create the whole sequence (1 3d person, 1 with 3d bones). It may not have all the power of 3DS, C4D, or Maya, but what it does, it does well, and doesn’t require years to learn.
