March 3, 2009 at 10:08 amGreat – I was looking for a whole new key layout! (English sarcasm alert)
Personal view – due to lag in the system when jog/shuttling through unrendered material on a timeline, I think all wheels are a waste of time in FCP, I prefer a mouse or tablet.
Each to their own – but if you’ve already learnt FCP, why would you want this?

March 3, 2009 at 12:58 pmif you feel a deep desire to use a jog/shuttle then you’d probably be better off with one that works by hooking into FCP’s control surface support … these keystroke senders can often be an exercise in frustration
the Tascam FireOne might suit or maybe an AlphaTrack if you want to tread new ground

but the programmable “retail” keyboard looks interesting…
https://www.xkeys.com/xkeys/xk12884.php
no more 3 or 4 finger spreads (command option something)
could put track mutes, locks, enables, patches, all on its own keyboard, as well as anthing else that takes mutliple key presses (not keystrokes, although i think they handle that as well)
the down side is, if you freelance at different places you have to drag the thing around with you!
plus it aint cheap!

March 4, 2009 at 12:33 pmJust trying and searching for different ways to use Final Cut to choose the best for me… Right now I´m using keyboard shortcuts mainly and use Wacom tablet for the things I´m not able to do with keyboard (tablet is really great thing!), but really miss jog&shuttle feel on keyboard (I know the JKL keys and combinations, and use SHIFT+arrow to move quickly thru the timeline)…
I like the touch strip concept of AlphaTrack, I´ll give it a try…
