  • Wrong frame rate reported by Quick Time and other applications using Blackmagic codec

I have some Blackmagic footage captured using FCP 4.5 with Blackmagic 10bit codec 25fps. I need to encode the footage to Windows Media Video but all applications I try on the Mac and the PC station report the framerate of the .mov files wrong. They were all captured at 25fps and some of the files are reported e.g. 25.04, 25.12 or similar variable framerate. In FPC or Combustion they are 25fps but even in the Quicktime on the Mac station they have wrong fps. What can be the cause of this? My problem is that when I try to encode the files (wich are pretty large quantity) the encoder drops some of the last frames due to wrong timing calculation. If I prerender a such a file in combustion the problem dissapears but that’s not the case cause I have too many .movs to process.

I had this same problem capturing 1080 23.98. I went back into FCP and the frame rate was correct. I exported the file via File->Export->Quicktime Movie and created a new source clip that came up with the correct frame rate flag in QuickTime player and After Effects.
