wrong forum but right crowd
This is most likely more of a QT (quick time) question than an AE question but I am hoping some of you AE gurus might know what is happening here.
I am working on a G4 w/ 10.3.9 and QT 6.5.2 and AE 6.5 pro. I rendered a few comps out of AE using the default lossless setting(QT movie, millions of colors) and saved those to an external FWdrive. Viewing them on my monitors they all looked fine, I imported them to FCP and played them on a NTSC monitor and they looked good, however I gave that drive to an animator and when he opened them in QT on his G5 w/ QT 7 (10.4 I think) the banding on the background was terrible. He said they played fine out his NTSC monitor but in QT they looked horrible. I picked up the FWdrive from him this morning so I could double check them on my system and sure enough… Everything looks good no banding on my end.
If anyone has any insight to what might be causing this please let me know.

What’s his monitor color depth? 16 million would be nice.
