wrong audio sample rate after sync
I am ready to scream.
Ok, so I have sat righting a big wrong on the part of my sound guy. He didnt forward the audio until 3 weeks into an edit so I had to go ahead and start using the in camera mic.
I have synces everything so far (about 60% of the edit was completed) manually.
A tedious process.
Now I am finding my previous flawless syncing skills arent working and clips are dropping out of sync about a minute or so into a take.
I have discovered the problem is that the audio sample rate is 44.1k.
Please do not tell me I have to go and re-sync everything again. please. please.
Is there anything I can do?

Hi James,
I’ve experience the same pain with audio rate sync issues, and it’s a big problem.
The way that I fixed it while trying to cause the least amount of pain, is to create NEW 48k audio files with the EXACT same naming as the previous and save them in the same folder. (also you should backup your project incase it becomes corrupted) You will need to store the OLD audio files on another drive preferably. (don’t throw them away until you’re project is in new working order). Create the new audio files. Then open FCP, it should be telling you that it can’t find the old audio files, link FCP with the NEW 48k audio files (after you link the 1st file it should automatically link the rest). Check the project, every audio file should be using the news 48k and should be in sync.

For some reason fcp won’t recconect (the new 48k files are greyed out)

Uncheck the ‘match exact’ or whatever the name is.
Then link the files.Todd at UCSB
