Wrong Alexa Clip Names in FCP EDL
Hey Guys…
Itz my first post to creative cow, with a hope to get some help from experts out here… 🙂so my query is, when i have a number of alexa clips edited on my timeline and i try exporting an EDL of that timeline, the del is generated bt with wrong clip names…for e.g ,
001 A001R25Q V C 01:13:41:17 01:13:48:04 01:00:00:00 01:00:06:11
* FROM CLIP NAME: A001C001_110621_R25Q.MOV
* COMMENT:002 A001R25Q V C 01:16:11:13 01:16:35:03 01:00:06:11 01:00:30:01
* FROM CLIP NAME: A001C002_110621_R25Q.MOV
* COMMENT:So here when we generate an edl with alexa or r3d clips, here the flip name generated in event 01 is A001R25Q, where as it should have been A001C001, and the same thing goes for event 02. So when i give this EDL to conform guys, they can’t actually get the exact file, instead they get the entire list of files which has A001R25Q.
Here is a screenshot of the settings that i generally use while exporting a EDL from FCP.

Please guys help me, as i am facing this problem since long time and couldn’t find a solution online anywhere…

Hi Mohan,
I think this is to do with the type of EDL you are using for this media. I know that in AVID when you are exporting an EDL for the RED for example you use the file 16 format allowing the whole clip name to be in the source.
This may not be the case in FCP but perhaps a good starting place.
